In one way or another I have spent most of my adult life on the water. Twenty years or so prior to sailing I owned and operated various power and water ski boats covering over 20000nm in Tidal Rivers, The Thames Estuary and on the South Coast. Since 2016 I have sailed over 13000nm on sailing vessels ranging from 11 to 23 metres in length. I have gained competence through formal RYA theory and practical training to the level of RYA Coastal Skipper/Offshore Yachtmaster (Theory). I am currently studying to become an Offshore Yachtmaster Instructor. I am competent in navigation, sailing vessel operations and handling, sail evolution processes and general sailing techniques. In 2022 I retired and treated myself to a Hallberg Rassy 412 which I sail most weeks throughout the year. I have competed in the 17-18 Clipper RTW race, The 2019 and 2020 Heineken regatta (1st in class), The Caribbean 600 (1st in class IRC2 2019 and 2020 and 1st CSA 2 in 2019), The 2024 Copa del Rey regatta and several 2018 RBI IRC 2 pre qualifying races (finishing 1st in class in the Morgan Cup and 2nd in class in the Myth of Malham Race). I have sailed in English Tidal Rivers, The North Sea, The English Channel, The Solent, French Coastal Waters, Mediterranean, Balearic Sea, Caribbean Sea and I have crossed The Southern Ocean.
